ARLIS/DVC Fall 2012 Business Meeting and Tour of the Barnes Foundation

Please, join us for our Fall 2012 ARLIS Delaware Valley Chapter Meeting at The Barnes Foundation Art Library.

Please plan to arrive by 1:15 in the Library, so we can begin the tour on time.

If you want to eat lunch at The Barnes Foundation, they have a café outside the Library on the lower level and a full restaurant (no reservations) behind the Visitor Services area.

Visit to The Soapbox!

Join the ARLIS Delaware Valley Chapter at The Soapbox in West Philly this upcoming Tuesday night!

The Soapbox is an independent publishing center and zine library that provides resources, equipment, and instruction in printing, binding, and related self-publication arts.

Staffed by a volunteer crew of working artists and archivists, The Soapbox sure has a handle on organizing and providing access to artists’ publications.  Check out their catalog on LibraryThing!

The ARLIS/DVC will be gathering at The Soapbox at 7 PM on Tuesday, August 7th, to discuss all things zine, cataloging, printmaking,binding, artist engagement, community engagement, and more!  Come with questions or just curiosity!

We will adjourn for dinner and/or drinks at the Vietnam Café around 8pm – feel free to just meet us there, too!

ARLIS/DVC Spring 2012 Meeting

The ARLIS/DVC Spring 2012 Business Meeting will be held in the afternoon of Friday, June 8th.

You are invited to join us for an informal pre-meeting lunch at The Bishop’s Collar in the Fairmount/Art Museum neighborhood of Philadelphia, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

We will gather at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Library for the business meeting at 2:00 p.m.  Upon arrival, please inform attendants at the Perelman Building that you are attending the ARLIS meeting in the Library.  Driving directions, parking options, and public transportation routes to the Perelman Building are given on the Visitor Information site.

Following the business meeting, curator Brooks Rich will lead a guided tour of the exhibition, “Rockwell Kent—Voyager: An Artist’s Journey in Prints, Drawings, and Illustrated Books” at 4:00 p.m.

The Museum’s Art After 5 event will be taking place on this Friday evening – a great excuse to lounge and mingle!

ARLIS DVC Call for Travel Award Applications

ARLIS/DVC is now accepting applications for the Marietta Bushnell Boyer Travel Award for travel to the 2012 ARLIS/NA Conference in Toronto, Canada. The Awaard will be in the amount of $450. The deadline for the award is February 10, 2012. Applications must be received by that date. Here are Guidelines for assistance.

You must be a current, dues-paying member of both ARLIS/NA and the ARLIS/Delaware Valley Chapter.
